Safety & Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 2026

Short version

Meet in public, look out for each other, show up when you say you will, and report anything that feels wrong. We would rather lose a user than lose your trust.

Meet in public, especially the first time

  • First meetings happen in public places - cafes, parks, trails, studios, event spaces.
  • Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport there and back, and keep your phone charged.
  • Never share your home address for a first meet. Hosts list a public meeting point, not a private home.

Know who is coming

  • RSVP lists are visible to the host and fellow attendees, so you can see names and shared interests before you arrive.
  • Keep your profile accurate - a real first name and a real photo help everyone feel at ease.
  • If an activity looks off - no clear meeting point, unusual requests - do not go. Report it instead.

Trust your instincts

  • You can leave any activity at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself.
  • If someone makes you uncomfortable in chat, stop replying, block them, and report the conversation.
  • No one from Compass will ever ask for your password, payment details, or money to attend an activity.

Community standards

  • Show up, or cancel early. Hosts plan around headcounts - flaking without a word hurts the group.
  • Be respectful. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, and sexual misconduct are not tolerated and lead to removal.
  • Compass is for meeting people through activities - not selling, soliciting, or spamming.
  • Keep listings honest: real activity, real place, real capacity.

Hosting safely

  • Pick a public, well-lit first venue and a precise meeting point attendees can find.
  • Cap your group at a size you can actually look after.
  • Say what to bring, what it costs (if anything), and how long it lasts - surprises are for birthdays.

Reporting, blocking, and emergencies

  • Use Report on any activity, profile, or chat. Blocking stops all contact immediately.
  • We review reports and remove people who break these guidelines - repeat offenders are banned.
  • In an emergency, call your local emergency services first. Compass is not a substitute for 911.
